6/12: starting

I did a little work today on an art project to hang on our bedroom wall. I had been envisioning possibilities for a couple of weeks, and today I decided not to worry about what would be better or worse and instead just set to work and see how things evolved. Not my usual m.o. for sure, but for this project it's working.

I was out in the veggie garden today and found several volunteers -- 2 sunflowers and 4 tomato plants. There's also a Something Else that I don't think is a weed but I haven't identified it yet. Some of this comes from my spurious habit last winter of burying the garbage!

We've had vegetables (and other unidentified greenery) growing out of our compost heap before. It's amazing how some things (i.e., almost everything I put into an official flowerbed!) take so much nurturing to grow and others just take off, all on their own.
