This evening I got an email from a colleague who looked like he was going to drop a ball that I would have to pick up. But he came through after all, and now I don't have that bit of extra work on my horizon.

Life in late capitalism can be vexing, alienating, fragmenting, and otherwise frustrating. There are many wonderful things in my life, but I'm more likely to talk about what's bad rather than what's good. Thank heavens for small favors, right?
This afternoon I got a letter from a girl in detention for most of the year who says she wants to give up gangbanging and get her high school diploma and go to cosmetology school instead. Yay!
