Life in late capitalism can be vexing, alienating, fragmenting, and otherwise frustrating. There are many wonderful things in my life, but I'm more likely to talk about what's bad rather than what's good. I'm going to try to post one good thing here each day, and if you would join in by adding a good thing from your day in the comments, I'd love it--I'd absolutely love it. --RR
11/30: fire pies
We lit the first fire of the season in the fireplace this evening, and we brought out the irons to make mountain pies in the fire for dinner.
Yesterday, after being fairly isolated for several months, I found out we have friends from home who have moved to a nearby town. I'm so relieved to know I won't be as alone after my husband deploys.
Although there are things that I like about the winter, I do envy the fact that you're in warm weather now, Sam! The hanging flowers on your blog made me already wish for spring and summer here.
And I'm glad, Nikki, that you've found some friends nearby; it's always so nice to know that there are people within an easy reach....
...and I just remade the bed on the weekend and removed and put away the electric blanket!

Yes, what are mountain pies?
