Life in late capitalism can be vexing, alienating, fragmenting, and otherwise frustrating. There are many wonderful things in my life, but I'm more likely to talk about what's bad rather than what's good. I'm going to try to post one good thing here each day, and if you would join in by adding a good thing from your day in the comments, I'd love it--I'd absolutely love it. --RR
1/15: smooth me at a meeting
I had to go to a meeting of the college's curriculum committee today to answer questions about the Classics curriculum and some changes we're proposing to it. I don't always like my manner at meetings of that sort: sometimes I'm too outspoken, too sharp, too quick, too aggressive, and/or too defensive. But today I was none of those things. I was actually a me I was glad to be.
Boy - can I relate! My mind seems to move faster than anyone elses around the table and thus - my mouth often does too. Process can drive me nuts; let's make a decision because I'm late for another meeting!
