Life in late capitalism can be vexing, alienating, fragmenting, and otherwise frustrating. There are many wonderful things in my life, but I'm more likely to talk about what's bad rather than what's good. I'm going to try to post one good thing here each day, and if you would join in by adding a good thing from your day in the comments, I'd love it--I'd absolutely love it. --RR
8/31: first time
In my Gender Studies class today we discussed Mark Twain's Diaries of Adam and Eve. It was my first time teaching the text, and--oh--what a pleasure. Twain's so smart. And hilarious.
I remember that one! When I was a freshman in high school our English teacher would read to us on rainy days for a change of pace. This is before teachers taught for state testing the way they do here in California. One day he read that.

ReplyDeleteHow great that you know the text, too! I first experienced it as read-out-loud, as well, and I think that it works especially well that way.
