Life in late capitalism can be vexing, alienating, fragmenting, and otherwise frustrating. There are many wonderful things in my life, but I'm more likely to talk about what's bad rather than what's good. I'm going to try to post one good thing here each day, and if you would join in by adding a good thing from your day in the comments, I'd love it--I'd absolutely love it. --RR
9/17: salad
On Monday and Tuesday we ate dinner in the school cafeteria. On Wednesday we went to a Greek restaurant with a friend before our evening faculty meeting. Yesterday I had a hankering for pizza, so we went out. Today has been our first dinner-at-home day this week. Whenever we have dinner at home I like to make a salad as part of it, and today it felt especially nice to return to salad-making (and salad-eating).
And if salad isn't available soup is another perfect choice!
ReplyDeleteI'll confess that I'm not good at making soups. I've worked up a pretty good chili recipe over the years, but I somehow don't have the soup knack. An old friend of mine was a kind of soup genius, and I sometimes have a hankering for one of her soups--we've lost touch, so I guess they're now just the soups of legend and imagination....
