Life in late capitalism can be vexing, alienating, fragmenting, and otherwise frustrating. There are many wonderful things in my life, but I'm more likely to talk about what's bad rather than what's good. I'm going to try to post one good thing here each day, and if you would join in by adding a good thing from your day in the comments, I'd love it--I'd absolutely love it. --RR
2/18: typing, old school style
Chris bought me a typewriter today. I had been kind of hankering after one, in a nostalgic way, for over a year. And now I hanker no longer.
I think it'll come in handy for some little art projects, and also for addressing formal envelopes (I don't do well with feeding envelopes through my printer). And I signed up for a typed-letter exchange. I remember loving typing letters back in the 80s. So though it was an indulgence to buy, I'm hopeful that this machine will get some actual use rather than nostalgia points.
Do you plan to use it? For what?
