Life in late capitalism can be vexing, alienating, fragmenting, and otherwise frustrating. There are many wonderful things in my life, but I'm more likely to talk about what's bad rather than what's good. For about fifteen minutes before it set the sun made some trees' wintry brown branches bright orange. I almost didn't go down to the lake this evening, but I'm glad I did--I needed this lesson.
Today, when I was bringing some postcards to the post office, the woman there smiled at me and said "Ah, it's you again, and you are sending such beautiful postcards." And when I had paid she said "Until the next time." with a bright smile on her face. And I left smiling, too.
