6/25: solo

When I lived in Los Angeles, it wasn't odd for people to go to movies alone, and I like that in cities it's generally considered within the range of "normal" for people to go to movie theatres or restaurants by themselves.  In my now-less-urban existence, I can tell that people think it's unusual when I do those things on my own.  But today I didn't mind, and I was glad I went to a matinee.

A few weeks ago I went to the cinema alone for the first time, to watch X-Men. I never thought, it was strange when I saw someone alone in a cinema, but now when I was there alone I thought it was strange. But then I realized that I am much more concentrated on the film (because my friend cannot spill her nachos on my). Now it's not a problem for me anymore to go there alone, so I never have to miss a movie again, just because nobody else wants to come with me :) That's great :D

Oh, Una, thanks for writing this comment and sharing! I agree: I think I watch movies differently when it's just me. And I'm going to try to go to more matinees this summer--with company if anyone wants to come, but if not, yesterday was a reminder that going on my own is lovely, too.
