8/31: kind words and kind people

I don't write much about people as "good things," but recently some people have been especially kind to me and have written me really nice notes--in email, on postcards, on Facebook, in phone texts.  One old friend even called me "fabulous," which made me smile a big, big smile.

...thank you for sending me your list of -ings... I was so happy to receive it... some lines are so inspiring!.. I was wondering, is your picturebooks project (related to poverty..) limited to American authors only?

You're very welcome, Meri! I think it's interesting how the phrases can spark so many different kinds of associations and echoes once they're a little untethered from their contexts....

For the poverty and children's literature project we're focusing on American authors so that it can tie in with other coursework and an internship that the student has done. I'd be interested someday in broadening the scope, but I'd need to learn a lot more about children's literature in other languages and traditions than I know now. :)
