Life in late capitalism can be vexing, alienating, fragmenting, and otherwise frustrating. There are many wonderful things in my life, but I'm more likely to talk about what's bad rather than what's good. Your note inspired me to locate an image of this painting, which I hadn't encountered before. I'm grateful for the opportunity to encounter this complex and stirring piece, and I'd love to hear more about your thoughts and questions. I often find that writing about paintings and photographs takes my brain to exciting places, too.
