10/23: an appointment
...that was scheduled for half an hour earlier than I had thought. It's a good thing I looked carefully at my calendar! And the earlier time meant I got home to my wonderful family sooner.
10/22: I've been experimenting
...with taking iPhone pictures with a low shutter speed. I've really liked some of the results. But it's unpredictable--which can be alternately and simultaneously exciting (surprises!), low stress (it's out of my hands!), and vexing (it's not reliably repeatable!). I guess that mixture is a good life lesson.
10/20: beginning
...the uncial calligraphy project in the Vulgate class. It gives me a chance to do some uncial lettering too.
10/19: autumn weather
...at last. Cool air in the morning that didn't entirely disappear all day. Sunlight aslant. Blue sky. Some yellow and amber leaves. A combination of clarity and glow.
10/18: discovering
..."The Trees of Green-Wood," composed by Andrew Yee and performed with Caroline Shaw.
10/17: writing
...a short review of The Wildcat Behind Glass by Alki Zei and translated by Karen Emmerich. It's something I've meant to do for quite some time, but it wasn't urgent, so I kept putting it off. Luckily, after I reread it this summer, I spent one morning quiet-writing session setting down some draft thoughts about it, and this afternoon those notes were a smooth on-ramp to the review itself. After proofreading it a few times, I sent it off. That feels good.
