11/4: time for an addition

Last night, as I was falling asleep, I realized that it would have been nice to add a particular illustration to the hand-out for my paper tomorrow. This morning I got my luggage packed with enough time left over to scan the picture and make a revised hand-out. Now no chance for regrets of the "If only I had...." variety.

My son is helping coach a local high school football team. Tonight this team is playing the first round of state playoffs. I am going to watch the game as my son helps coach them. Looking forward to it. It's a good day.

I like your blog. It's one good thing today. Reading it. Remembering to focus on the good things.
For me, in addition to reading your blog, happy mail, with a picture of the Dalai Lama on it from a postcrosser.

I have a new dog, a two year old I got a week ago. He showed me today that he is settling in, and enjoying being here, and I'm glad. He has been passed around too much, and once abandoned already in his short life, there is no way for me to tell him that he is here forever, he just has to discover that. Confused in an unstable home with no attention at 14 months he bit someone that showed up unexpected, and he got a 'dangerous dog' label. He has showed no aggression here at all, in fact only lack of socialization, which we enjoyed the time together to work on today.

Fall clean up is almost done, and the farm is looking great. The weather today was clear, cold and crisp but then very warm at noon, enough to continue work in t-shirts, but it's back below freezing again by evening feeding.

Got 4 of the horses hoof trimmed while the new dog watched and got to know them. Almost the whole house got cleaned too. I'm exhausted in a good way, and looking forward to reading with my feet up for the evening after a hot shower.

How great to find three comments here! It's nice to "see" you again, April. And Sue, thanks for your kind words. And anonymous friend, I hope you enjoyed the football game.
