But in the afternoon Chris and I decided to do some bee-keeping, and in the evening we made a spur-of-the-moment decision to go to the last night of races at the I-30 Speedway below Little Rock.
It was good to let myself depart from the plan.
Life in late capitalism can be vexing, alienating, fragmenting, and otherwise frustrating. There are many wonderful things in my life, but I'm more likely to talk about what's bad rather than what's good. I'm going to try to post one good thing here each day, and if you would join in by adding a good thing from your day in the comments, I'd love it--I'd absolutely love it. --RR

We have a small Jack Russell. My relationship with the little stinker can best be summed up as "we tolerate each other". She was a gift to my wife by another breast cancer survivor. The dog won't hardly leave my wife's side. They are bonded. Anyway, with the hectic pace of our lives the last couple of years, we never took the dog in to get spayed. So of course, some little lothario chihuahua got to her. I just about flipped when she started getting fat with puppies. The result was 4 little Jack-HuaHua-s....ugly too. I thought so, anyway. Can't sell em, can't keep em .... I wasn't even sure we could give em away...then what? But it all worked out. Those four little guys all got good homes. Two of em nearby. The one next door comes over all the time to "play with mama" and the neighbor lady has become a good friend. She and my wife get hours of enjoyment watching to two little rug rat dogs tussle around with each other. It makes them happy. It's a good day.
Sounds sweet. Friends that are dogs and friends made through dogs are good!
