A bright walk in the farmer's field below our house. Chris' idea, a good one.
Life in late capitalism can be vexing, alienating, fragmenting, and otherwise frustrating. There are many wonderful things in my life, but I'm more likely to talk about what's bad rather than what's good. I'm going to try to post one good thing here each day, and if you would join in by adding a good thing from your day in the comments, I'd love it--I'd absolutely love it. --RR

Today I received a nice Postcrossing postcard from you dated 20 Oct 2011 US-1362188.
Thank you.

Home late...so this is a late comment. Each year we go to the home of a friend on the weekend before Halloween and carve pumpkins together. This has been a tradition between our families for about 18 years. As the children have gotten older and have come to schedules of their own, we had none of our children able to attend the tradition this year. We would normally display the kids pumpkins in front of our door on Halloween night. My wife insisted that I carve a pumpkin as a proxy for the kids. She still wanted a pumpkin on the front door. So, after not having carved a pumpkin myself, since the children were small, I grabbed a knife and dove in. My wife was pleased. It's a good day.
It's very cool that you & your friends kept the pumpkin-carving tradition going even without children. It sounds like a fun time.
And Saif, thanks for coming by!
