Life in late capitalism can be vexing, alienating, fragmenting, and otherwise frustrating. There are many wonderful things in my life, but I'm more likely to talk about what's bad rather than what's good. I'm going to try to post one good thing here each day, and if you would join in by adding a good thing from your day in the comments, I'd love it--I'd absolutely love it. --RR

I've got THE nicest compliment of a colleague today! I am new at my job (for a few months now) and he said I am such a great asset to the group and that I fit in perfectly. Everybody is very happy I am there and apparently I am doing very good. Well, this certainly made my day!
That's fantastic, Karen! I know how wonderful (and comforting) it can be to know that you're fitting in at work, especially at a new job; thanks for sharing.
I tried to respond yesterday but got cut off! Let's try again.
Your post reminded me of a classic comedian Bill Cosby skit. I think his wife was sick or something so Bill was in charge of the kids' breakfast. His daughter twisted his arm for cake. So he thought about it".... uh, cake, well, it has eggs, it has milk, it has flour just like in toast... etc." Something along those lines. By the time he was done cake for breakfast sounded like a nutritionist's dream come true!
I know the skit you mean, Barbara, and I even ran a little bit of it in my mind that morning as I sat down to my dessert/breakfast....
